dramatic Feature Film

This film is the next evolution from the initial storyline portrayed in Stream Me, where we followed the journey of Adira, an indigenous teenage girl from rural Nova Scotia, as she overcomes her insecurities while discovering the world of online streaming.

Adira and Jamal are now in their late teens and live in Atlantic Canada’s geographical gem, Cape Breton. They have just finished their first year of university and are in a comfortable, happy relationship. Adira’s streaming career continues to excel, and her dedicated fan base is strong. When she beats a prominent gamer in a first- person shooter game, she goes viral and rockets to new levels of fame with a massive following. Even her roommate, Jess, who is not a streamer, is very excited about Adira's success.

Ben, Adira’s former boss at the gaming store, who was also her first inspiration to start streaming, is now Adira's talent manager. Ben is very supportive, but he always tries to juggle too many things and eventually drops the ball and lets Adira down. She makes the tough decision to explore her options. After all, with Adira's elevated success, she starts to get noticed by some big-wig managers from Los Angeles and decides to take some meetings. She finds the characters in this rapidly evolving world are all chasing around to cash in and range from highly aggressive to hysterical and even comical, all promising massive riches. Adira’s grounded roots are at odds with this new world, and she faces tough decisions.

Meanwhile, Jamal has been focusing on his passion for music with his roommates Bash and Tyler. Their talents have developed well, and they are now producing original and unique beats. They could make it a success if only they could get their music out there. Jamal, however, has insecurities around his fear of failure stemming from his childhood hardships. Adira knows Jamal’s talent and starts sharing their original music on her streams, and her fans love it. She believes that much greatness can come from hardship, and with her support, Jamal faces his fears and starts streaming his music to the world. Fueled largely from the COVID pandemic lockdowns, music has found massive new audiences on the streaming platforms such as Twitch.

Adira and Jamal are enjoying their relationship and dealing with their streaming successes. They live through this with a backdrop of university life and all that entails with their roommates. When Jamal’s beat band lands themselves in the top 5 of a national beat-making contest, it seems as though Jamal’s musical dreams are about to come true. Disappointingly, they do not win and immediately question their future and whether music is a realistic dream. Surprisingly, they get a call from one of the judges, a well-known East Coast musician who wants to hire the boys to remix one of their songs. East coast traditional music meets hip hop – very cool!

There is always another door to walk through, even when things seem uncertain. Jamal learns the lesson that Adira tells him early in the story, “If you don’t take the leap, you will never know how far you can go.” And this evolving streaming world has provided the opportunity to follow their passions and reach for the stars.
